205. The Inward Person

The darkness of life starts at the surface. Things like bad weather, a lousy job, disrespectful people, and tragedies of various sorts. When you are living on the surface, even if you are happy now, unhappiness is just around the corner.

There is a different choice you can make. Like the water deep in the ocean, calmness of soul occurs in the depths of your being. You are a child of God and He loves you no matter the situations or circumstances. Though you have just lost a spouse, you can still be the solid rock of your family if you are inwardly strong. And even if your house has been wiped out by a raging flood, you can still be kind to others.

I believe that Scripture says it best in 1 John 4:4: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: “because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” When the surface life is bringing nothing but darkness, be The Inward Person.

About Patrick Day

In 2010, I escaped from four long years of deep, dark depression. This blog shares lessons I learned from those years as depicted in my autobiography - How I Escaped from Depression - as well as other insights about depression and anxiety that only come from someone who has gone through it. When you have a heart attack, you become an expert in heart attacks. When you have diabetes, you become an expert in that condition. As such, I am an expert in depression, with a four-year experiential degree and graduate studies in how to live a life going forward that keeps the ever-lurking Depression at a healthy distance.
