209. The Great “Yes”

Those of us who have lived with fears, anxiety, and depression are well aware of all the “no” circumstances and situations in life. “No, you will never get another job.” “No, you will never escape this depression.” “No, your anxiety will not allow you to attend this social event.”

The Apostle Paul tells us in the first chapter of 2 Corinthians that Jesus is the great “yes.” “Yes, you can trust God who sent His Son for us.” “Yes, Jesus will stand with you during this dark time of your life.” “Yes, the Holy Spirit will renew your mind from darkness into light.”

You can bank on the promises of God, as Paul says, because they have all been fulfilled in Jesus. Turn to Him for your relief and comfort, not the world or your own self.

About Patrick Day

In 2010, I escaped from four long years of deep, dark depression. This blog shares lessons I learned from those years as depicted in my autobiography - How I Escaped from Depression - as well as other insights about depression and anxiety that only come from someone who has gone through it. When you have a heart attack, you become an expert in heart attacks. When you have diabetes, you become an expert in that condition. As such, I am an expert in depression, with a four-year experiential degree and graduate studies in how to live a life going forward that keeps the ever-lurking Depression at a healthy distance.
