266. In This World You Will Have Trouble

Full Pic“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

These are words of great hope for those who lead an internal life. What happens on the outside – death, disease, and destruction – are outcomes of a fallen world. The good, the bad, and the innocent are all susceptible to these troubles. But Jesus says the things that happen on the outside, terrible as they may be, do not define you if you trust in Him within, for He has overcome the world.

About Patrick Day

In 2010, I escaped from four long years of deep, dark depression. This blog shares lessons I learned from those years as depicted in my autobiography - How I Escaped from Depression - as well as other insights about depression and anxiety that only come from someone who has gone through it. When you have a heart attack, you become an expert in heart attacks. When you have diabetes, you become an expert in that condition. As such, I am an expert in depression, with a four-year experiential degree and graduate studies in how to live a life going forward that keeps the ever-lurking Depression at a healthy distance.
