The Old Has Gone; The New Has come

I welcome those of you subscribed to this blog to switch to its replacement. To do so, click on this LINK and subscribe on the bottom of the sidebar on the right side.

The question, of course, is how the new blog is different than this one.

I have come to understand that not everyone triumphs over depression. Some poor souls suffer with it their whole lives. This blog recognizes that fact and will offer suggestions on how to lessen the effects of depression, how to find the right mental health practitioners, and how to try new things that might make a difference. The book I wrote is called How I Escaped from Depression: Ten Critical Lessons Learned the Hard Way. These lessons could help you escape depression, as I did, or could help you manage a depression that just won’t go away.

Another major reason I chose to start a new blog is that the old one mainly addressed those suffering from depression. This new one is also designed to educate those who have not suffered from depression but who have loved ones or friends who do. Learning how to interact with someone who has depression becomes much easier when one understands the basics of depression; hence, the title Depression 101.

My first post on the new site is today, January 1, the first day of 2019. A good time to start.

About Patrick Day

In 2010, I escaped from four long years of deep, dark depression. This blog shares lessons I learned from those years as depicted in my autobiography - How I Escaped from Depression - as well as other insights about depression and anxiety that only come from someone who has gone through it. When you have a heart attack, you become an expert in heart attacks. When you have diabetes, you become an expert in that condition. As such, I am an expert in depression, with a four-year experiential degree and graduate studies in how to live a life going forward that keeps the ever-lurking Depression at a healthy distance.

Hi Pat, I want to sign up for your new blog. I followed the directions on your post. I typed in the email address I have been using for years (rjh42@charter.net) and got a pop up telling me I needed to enter a valid email address. And so goes almost everything in my life these days.

The problem may be the browser you’re using. I put in your email address in my browser and it went through. You should have by now received an email asking you to confirm your subscription. Let me know if that works. Pat
